The Two-Thirds-Year TO-DO
In this article I would like to share my aspirations for the year (and beyond).
Publish Media Creation for Dogs 001
If you’re new to my blog, you may not know what MC4D is. Media Creation for Dogs is a zine I began in 2023. It is a small representative of the digital underground. Content is gathered by friends, fellow artists, all of whom that I met online with the exception of my brother (who somehow fits right in).
I want to publish this damn thing. I have been working on publishing the damn thing. It will be published as a PDF. It will be soon. I have such beautiful and talented and exciting things to share with you all.
Concrete MC4D Goals
-
Upload anything to archive.org that has yet to be uploaded
-
Transfer all info I’ve received into the working document
-
Write & deliver interview questions for anyone who has not shared sufficient detail about their process
-
Publish, publish, publish! Two or three articles at a time.
Self Host
I have been growing weary of Discord. I feel weak for allowing myself to be limited to it. The chat client may support markdown, and even more critically it is where I’ve spent a great deal of years fostering relationships. Despite these facts in its favor, I find the culture fostered and advertisements present simply unacceptable.
I have aspirations of migrating the community I run elsewhere, and fostering new relationships there. Ideally I’d like to get a matrix instance running, but using telegram is a massive step up. Telegram is fucking spectacular for sharing files, and it does happen to be where a great deal of furrys make themselves comfortable.
My devices
I have 2 lap-tops, 2 smart-phones, and a dumb-phone. It feels like a very comedic set of things to have. It feels balanced. They are as follows:
Lap-Tops
-
2012 Toshiba Tecra z40 *running Debian
-
2021 MSI Raider GE76 *running Windows 11
Dumb-Phone
- Mobiwire Hinto *running some proprietary BullshitOS
Smart-Phones
-
2022 Google Pixel Pro 7 *running GrapheneOS
-
2023 Oppo A78 *running ColorOS
What are my intentions with these devices?
Well you see, I’d like to host a media server and potentially a web server with the Toshiba, which feels quite stupid considering I also want to be taking the Toshiba out with me to like coffeeshops and what have you in order to truly and unabashedly enjoy the liberty that comes with a lap-top. The MSI was my very first laptop, I had only known desktops before it, and frankly I feel as though it is best used as a desktop. Why bother bringing it nearer to such physical risk?
Concrete Computer Goals
-
Sunset my discord server
-
Switch to Hugo for static site generation -
Host outside of Neocities
-
Get The Most Out of College
Being about 1 school year and 12 credits into my major in Music Technology, I can confidently say that I am quite enjoying college, though I’m finding it to be a serious challenge.
I am currently taking *Information Technology, a course in which I spend about half the time brushing up on the fundamentals of computers and the other half using MS products, namely Word and Excel. I can imagine that it is a class in which someone with a greater deal of knowledge than me would be bored to death. Frankly, I can’t very easily imagine the perspective of my classmates. Me and the professor are the only people in the room with androids. I am often encouraged to share my experiences with various facets of the class such as external hard drives, upload/download speed, though I chose not to speak on my usage of peer-to-peer connections.
I’m also taking a distance education course–distance meaning not even zoom meetings, just instructional videos and homework–Intro to Digital Media. I have less to say about it. I admire that the curriculum is based around free software (Audacity, GIMP, Inkscape, Open Shot) because 1. freesoft is fucking awesome and 2. it means I’m already familiar with the tools we’re using. However, the familiarity feels like it’s the only thing keeping me afloat. I am struggling in both classes due to poor time management (and to some extent my social anxiety with regards to the discussion questions).
I am nervous. I really truly am quite fucking nervous about this whole damn thing.
Going into the Fall 2025 semester, I’m quite interested in taking a few classes. Namely, Academic Skills Workshop I, Introduction to Music Business, [WEB Design Using HTML/Group Piano I], Fundamentals of Music. The unfortunate thing about all this is that I really want to be able to take the class in which I get to spend more time with HTML, I also am interested in taking one of the most crucial classes in for my major.
Concrete College Goals
-
Make time in order to complete assignments
-
Join a club (eyes on you web & graphic design)
-
Spend time at the library and fitness center
Maintain a Beautiful Living Space
This is difficult to speak on. Over the past few months, I’ve found myself falling more in love with my living space. The biggest change was when I got the second monitor. The most recent change is that my laundry basket has been moved to a corner which is exactly large enough for a laundry basket, allowing for the closet to become much more comfortable to utilize. I also lowered my bulletin board, and I intend to use it more frequently, take pictures weekly maybe. It could be nice. It’s a quite charming thing.
Concrete Tidying Goals
-
Tidy a bit everyday
-
Determine a day of the week upon which to devote more time to tidying
-
Regularly clear my desk
-
Only allow furniture on the floor
In Conclusion
I’m on a path to bettering. My free time for aimless endeavors has fallen out of favor and been replaced with long-term goals I’ve set for myself. I continue to waste plenty of time, regardless.
