WHAT iNSPiRES YOU?

inspiration wouldnt have the reputation it does if it was reliably sourced from anywhere. i'm sporadic with my output.

i think art is both an elaboration of the artist's fetishes and a representation of the ongoing dialogue we ingage in between the inner and outer world.

in the world there are so many colors, shapes, textures, smells, emotions, fables and machines and the myriad of synesthetic experiences linking them all.

something catches you eventually. go after whatever's playful.

WHAT DOES YOUR PROCESS LOOK LiKE?

most of my pictures are made using a combination of paint.net, GIMP, and grafx2 and a mouse though sometimes i will use my tablet.

i like the sharp edges of un-aliased lines and gradients, so a lot of the reason i use these programs is because of their support of low color palletes and dithering tools.

i usually start with a vague idea of a pose or experience or particular geometric proportion i want to represent and let the rest fill out from there.

i dont have a refined method and i usually change something between each drawing.

HOW DO YOU ACHiEVE ViSUAL CUTENESS?

i utilize the general concept of the moe girl. represented cutely, we can become sympathetic to so many things.

i like to draw about feelings like loneliness and grief in a moe-moe way, so that i can find the sweetness in otherwise intolerable pains.

sometimes explorations of tenderness and vulnerability. beyond that it's all about round soft shapes big eyes and androgynous bodies! fluffiness is always cute.

WHAT GOALS HAVE YOU HAD WiTHiN YOUR ART?

more distorted proportion, simpler shapes and lines, and more complex scenes are the immediate drawing goals. learn to take it less seriously.

WHAT ARE THE PLANS FOR CiEL?

hopefully new things. the last couple years have felt stagnant. if i have to stick around on earth, i would like to look forwards to positive changes!

i want to make games and music and so many other things.
